MANASSAS, VA, June 2, 2015 – Local, family owned and operated waste and recycling hauler, American Disposal Services, has sponsored the Annual Dave Harris Memorial Billfish Tournament again this year, by helping combat wounded Purple Heart veterans to attend the event.
Formerly known as the “Cinco de Mayo Billfish Tournament”; the Harris family changed the name in 2008 after they lost their brother, Dave Harris, to melanoma and renamed the tournament to honor his memory.

MANASSAS, VA, February 26, 2015 – American Disposal Services received the Large Business of the Year award at the Prince William Chamber of Commerce’s annual Awards ceremony held Wednesday evening at the Hylton Preforming Arts Center.American was chosen as the award recipient over fellow Large Business of the Year nominees, Novant Health and My Plumber. General Manager, Kevin Edwards was in attendance to accept the award.
American Disposal has achieved numerous groundbreaking accomplishments over the past year including the opening of their single stream recycling processing facility, The American Recycling Center, which features a one-of-a-kind Interactive Learning Center. They also announced their changeover from diesel to a fully Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fleet (American was the first hauler in Northern VA to make this change). The company also introduced their new service, GreenStream®, a combined green cleaning/waste and recycling collection program for commercial spaces.

MANASSAS, VA, November 25, 2014 – American Disposal Services recently launched a month-long recycling education and outreach workshop with at-risk children of transitioning families in Alexandria.
American’s communication and community outreach department was inspired by the After School Program held at Brent Place apartments and run by Community Lodgings, a small, local charity organization. Community Lodgings runs the charitable initiative which is assisted by AmeriCorps staff. Through the program, children grades 1-12 are educated and mentored on how to manage their time and excel at their studies, as well as make safe, healthy and ethical life choices.

MANASSAS, VA, July 1, 2014 – American Disposal Services is proud to announce the two recipients of their Annual American Disposal Services Inc. Scholarship. Applications were distributed to all public high schools in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties. One winner was chosen from each county.
Winners Robert Young and Allison Arpajian each received a $2,500 dollar award from American Disposal Services to apply to their college or university of choice. Applicants were only considered if they were an active member of an environmentally-focused group or committee through their school or community and had completed an environmental science course as part of their studies. A 500 word essay explaining how they helped to protect or promote the preservation of the environment was also required.
